Recreation and Public Arts Committee

Recreation and Public Arts Committee

The Plainfield Recreation and Public Arts Committee typically has monthly working meetings, at the Recreation Field, during the warmer months. The Recreation and Public Arts Committee's goals include economically maintaining and developing the Recreation Field, maintaining a safe and clean environment for town residents and visitors to enjoy options for outdoor recreation and exercise, organizing community events at the Recreation Field, and sponsoring and promoting public art around the Town of Plainfeld. Yearly events include Summer All-Ages Soccer Games and Cookouts, Old Home Day Festivities at the Rec Field in September, and ice skating in the winter.

Amenities available at the Recreation Field include:
Basketball Court, Tennis Court, toddler age play area, skate-park, swings, baseball diamond, tube slide, tire swing, covered picnic shelter that has four tables, lights and electricity, and a porta-potty during the summer months.  Also available for special events are: two folding tables, four pop-up tents, corn hole, badminton/volleyball set, and soccer supplies.

Plainfield Recreation Field is open from 6am until 10pm daily. No alcohol is permitted at the park. Please place all trash and recycling in the designated bins. Better yet, please pack out your trash when you're leaving the park.
Please pick up waste from your dog. There is a composting bin for dog waste in the woods just behind the picnic shelter, and there are dog waste bags in the receptacle in the parking lot.
If you need to drive down to the Shelter to bring supplies for an event, please contact the Recreation and Public Arts Committee Chair for the code to unlock the gate.
