The Select Board is the legislative body for the town. Regular meetings are held on the second and fourth Monday of each month at 6:00 PM. Agendas are posted at least 48 hours prior to a regular meeting. Meetings are accessible on Zoom and/or in-person (see agendas below for details). Before addressing the Select Board in a meeting, we encourage you to review the Plainfield Select Board Rules of Procedure.
If you have an item you would like the Select Board to consider, please contact Select Board Chair Karl Bissex to request inclusion on an agenda. Select Board responsibilities include enacting ordinances, regulations, and policies; overseeing town property and personnel; as well as preparing and presenting the annual budget to the town's voters during Town Meeting. The Select Board, with the Town Health Officer, also sits as the Board of Health. Additional responsibilities for members of the Select Board include serving on the town Board of Civil Authority (relating to elections), serving on the town Board of Abatement (relating to tax abatement), and holding hearings on complaints brought under Plainfield's Animal Control Ordinance.
