2025-10-09 This is an update on the drought/leaks from the chief operator for Plainfield Village
"The springs that typically supply water to the Town have shown a significant decrease in production, as a result we have asked people on the water system to conserve and be conscious of their water usage. This is largely a precautionary measure to try to reduce the amount of time we need to run the wells since running them is more expensive and time consuming. With the springs at their current production and occasionally turning on the wells we are maintaining a full reservoir. At this time we are not concerned about the Town running out of water. If that changes at any point we will discuss the various options and everyone in Town will be informed of any changes or requirements. We have found and repaired one leak and continue to do leak detection work to try to locate another small suspected leak. As always we ask people on the system to let us know if they see water in places it shouldn't be or if it is observed bubbling out of the ground."

The Town of Plainfield Water & Wastewater departments manage treatment, distribution, and collection with remarkable efficiency. Last July, in response to catastrophic damage caused by Hurricane Beryl, staff worked over 12 hours every day to restore water service. Chief Operator Tristan MacGregor-Stewart and Assistant Operator Scott Franks have demonstrated exceptional initiative, driving system improvements even prior to last summer's devastating floods. Congratulations to Tristan and Scott!! Congratulations to Tristan Macgregor-StewartPlainfield's Chief Water Operator, Tristan Macgregor-Stewart, has just won the 2024 Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator of the Year Award. This is given by the Environmental Protection Agency. He will be traveling to Boston at the end of January to formally receive the award.
This does not surprise those in town government who see Tristan's strong work ethic every day. It is great that those on the Federal level recognize Tristan's extraordinary work during the flood. BRAVO! Pipe Work on Temporary Mill St. bridge, Oct. 2024
