Revolving Loan Committee

Revolving Loan Committee

Created in 1985 through a grant from the Vermont Community Development Program, the Plainfield Revolving Loan Fund (PRLF) was created to improve the condition of historic structures, create housing, and improve the vitality of the downtown areas.

By 1997, many of the loans were paid back, so the Select Board formed a committee to oversee granting additional loans. 
The PRLF program is designed to serve the interests of the town of Plainfield, its citizens, businesses, non-profit organizations, town government, and community organizations.

The purposes of the PRLF include:
  • Emergency building repairs for eligible borrowers
  • Job creation, job preservation, and enhancement of Plainfield
  • Improve community-owned facilities
  • Improve the accessibility of businesses and facilities to people with disabilities
  • Promote establishment or expansion of business, including agriculture
  • Promote or increase affordable and safe housing, owner-occupied or rental
  • Improve the appearance of Plainfield
  • Promote preservation of historic properties

When a variety of applications arrive simultaneously, priority will be given to non-town

government projects. The Plainfield Revolving Loan Committee meets as needed at the Town Office.
