How to connect with us:  Our office hours are 8 AM to 4 PM Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  ​A drop box is available 24/7 for your convenience when the office is closed.  It's located on the front wall of the building at the top of the access ramp.

  • Warranty Deed, $15.00 per page
  • Mortgage Deed,  $15.00 per page
  • Mortgage Discharge, $15.00 per discharge

Auditing Service RFP

FREE Harm Reduction Kits are available at the Town Clerk's Office

These kits contain Narcan (Naloxone HCl Nasal Spray 4 mg), Fentanyl Test Strips, Xylazine Test Strips, BZK Antiseptic Towelettes, CPR Face Guard, disposable masks, and Harm Reduction information. They're available during open office hours Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 8am - 4pm.​

DMV renewals & birth certificates​

Starting Monday Oct. 7, 2024 the Plainfield Town Clerk’s Office will no longer process DMV paperwork. Please contact the DMV directly either in person in Montpelier or online.
​We also encourage residents to obtain birth certificates via the State website 
https://secure.vermont.gov/VSARA/vitalrecords/.
​The town administration needs to place resources where they are most in demand in the aftermath of the July 2024 flood.

Search Land Records Online

The town land records have been scanned back forty years and are available online. We will continue scanning current documents and make them available as soon as possible.  Visit the Vermont Land Records Portal to begin searching. If you have questions, please contact Bram Towbin or Carol Smith.

Notice: The Town contracted to have the land records scanned from August 1986 to the present. Unfortunately there are gaps within that period. Book 55 (2008) is presently unavailable.  In order to ensure a complete search you need to physically view the index cards which are located in the vault at 149 Main Street in Plainfield.  WE ARE A HYBRID SYSTEM REQUIRING BOTH ONLINE AND IN PERSON SEARCHES. 
Paper copies of land records are $2.50 per page
